Our nurse aide program consist of 6 + weeks (Day), 8 + weeks (Evening) and 13 day (Day- Quick track) course consisting of 100 hours of comprehensive nurse aide training which includes basic nursing concepts training in a classroom, skill lab and clinical setting at a local nursing home. This is an accelerated course and requires dedication to studying at minimal 2-3 hours daily. Students will cover basic nursing care, vital signs, communication, client rights, legal and ethical behavior, cultural needs, acute/chronic illness, physical and psychosocial care skills, role of a nurse aide, mental healthcare, restorative care, medical abbreviations, medical math, anatomy and physiology. CNAPA believes our students should be knowledgeable about organ systems in the human body and disease pathology, which allows the student to provide the highest quality nursing care to residents who need help performing activity daily living (ADL).
Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the South Carolina nurse aide registry exam. CNAPA is an approved program by the Department of Health and Human Services and affiliated with South Carolina Commission of Higher Education (SCCEH). Our program is also an approved in-facility/regional testing site. Students will be able to take the state exam at the school 12-15 days after course completion.
Day/ Evening classes meet three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Quick Track course meets Monday-Friday. Nurse Aide training consists of (60 hours) classroom lecture/skill lab instructions and (40) hour clinical instructions at a LTC facility. Students will study 10 nursing comprehensive chapters and learn 22 skills basic nursing skill provided by South Carolina DHHS. All courses are geared towards entry level nursing employment opportunities. *Only 16 seats available for each class. New classes begin every month but fill up quickly, so reserve your seat in our next class. Space is limited! Seats are sold by first come first served. If you are unable to get into the course date you desire then ask about our course waiting list option. To sign up for the course waiting list a partial/full payment is required.
